Sweet Senorita Party: Mexican Paper Flowers
When my friends and I hosted a Senorita Party, six of us gathered at my house the week before with piles of tissue paper. We had the best time making flowers until late into the night. I could barely move in my apartment when we were finished. We had car loads of flowers. It was beautiful! We had the party at our church and the walls were brick, so there wasn't any problem putting the flowers up with tape.
When I have done this other times, like for Cinco de Mayo, I have used colorful serapes as tablecloths. If you have a large space that swallows color. This is a great theme to go with.

Sweet Senorita Party: The Treats...
Chips & Salsa, taquitos, quesadillas, Mexican Wedding Cookies and the best recipe ever for Chicken Enchiladas... make and easy menu.
You can pick up street tacos and great salsa just at Costco. In Utah some of the local groceries carry these other fun items, but if you can't find them look up a Mexican Market. There are good ones in Logan, SLC and Ogden. If you want to work just a little harder... the cookbook Mexican Everyday has some great recipes.
These Jarritos are really, really good and made with old fashioned sugar. Mmm. The lime is my favorite. On ice in one of THESE my favorite galvanized tubs.. which you can DIY, but I've have and I didn't enjoy it. That decoupage gets pretty messing and I tear my papers.

Independence Day Wedding: The Ring Box...

Love BOXes SHoP...
Independence Day Wedding: Something Old...

I love this photo of the bride's maid dress found on Bridology and her suggestion to serve classic coke. It's red and white and very American. The small 6oz. bottles on ice in big tubs would be really cute.
Independence Day Wedding: The Groom

If you are having a wedding, or trying to dress men for any occasion, you ought to know about The Tie Bar. They have the most beautiful ties, pockets squares and cufflinks for VERY resonable prices and I promise you won't be skimping on quality. You'll be surprised when items arrived carefully packaged and beautifully constructed. Cufflinks are $20 a pair. Pocket squares (which I LOVE) are between $5 and $8. Ties are around &15. Patterns often come in skinny or extra long so there is something to suit everyone.

Butterfly Wedding: The Men...

The Butterfly Wedding: THe PIE?
This is the butterfly wedding and it's a bit different.. so don't just serve cake.. serve pie. This pie is one of my favorites and I try to make some every year when the peaches are on...
Barbara's Fresh Peach Pie...
FRESH PEACH PIE Crust:
1 heaping cup of flour
1/2 c. butter or margarine
3 1/2 T. powdered sugar
Blend together and press into 9-10 inch pie pan. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Cool.
Filling:
3/4 c. sugar
4 T. cornstarch
3 T. light corn syrup
5 T. peach or lemon jello powder
1 drop orange food coloring
2 T. lemon juice + enough water to make
1 1/2 c. of liquid
4-6 peeled and sliced peaches (fresh)Mix sugar and cornstarch, add corn syrup and liquid.
Bring to a boil and cook 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Add jello powder and food coloring. Stir to dissolve jello crystals. Cool mixture. Stir in sliced peaches and pour into pie crust. Allow to set in refrigerator 2-3 hours.
And, if you want to make it extra special...
If you save out about 1/3 c. of the syrup before adding the peaches, you can mix the remaining syrup with 1/3 c. evaporated milk and pour it over the pie after the filling has completely set.
